Grape vines are deciduous perennials that need support for climbing and twining. Grape trellises are especially helpful. The vines can be trained and maintained very easily. Plus, grape provide delicious food, not only for humans, but for your beautiful backyard song birds!

Growing grapes in California and Nevada can be easy and extremely rewarding if you plant varieties that will fit your growing season. In Northern Nevada, for example,  with sometimes surprisingly late spring frosts,  early fall frosts, high summer temperatures, and prolonged lack of rain, choosing the right varieties is a must. So, definitely consult with an expert arborist.

It's also important to prepare the ground with a full foot of good topsoil and to provide an adequate water source -- drip irrigation is the best bet, but regular hand watering will work as well.
